We serve children entering grades 1st-12th grade in the fall.
What are the dates for the summer camp?

Students work towards a Production working in various art genres (dance, play production, band, music producers, set design)
Two performances are given at the end of the program.

Is lunch provided?
The family will have to provide lunch. No refrigeration or microwave is available. Food delivery will not be accepted for campers.
What is the daily attire?
We ask that your child be dressed comfortably in play clothes so that they can easily move in, no open toed shoes. Institute T-shirts are encouraged!
Does my child have to participate in the entire session?
The process of creating art requires DAILY ATTENDANCE. It is the family’s responsibility to notify us if the child will be absent. It will be appreciated if an absence is necessary due to illness or emergencies, for parents to contact the staff at This email address is being protected from spambots. No refunds or prorates will be given for dismissals, vacations, or voluntary withdrawals.

Summer Camp for 1st to 3rd grade will take place at Institute of Music (780 Salem Ave) and 4th – 12th grade at Kean University- East Campus ( 215 North Ave). Some classes will require students to be transported via IMC’s Van between campuses. They are a 3 minute drive from one another.

El campamento de verano para 1ro a 3er grado se llevará a cabo en el Instituto de Música (780 Salem Ave) y para 4to a 12mo grado en el Campus Este de la Universidad de Kean (215 North Ave). Algunas clases requerirán el transporte de los estudiantes entre los campus en la camioneta de IMC. Están a 3 minutos en coche entre sí.

SUMMER ARTS 2025 - REGISTRATION OVERVIEW

Overview:
The Institute of Music for Children is more than just a place for your child to go during the summer, it's a place for your child to grow! We are excited to be back for another summer of HARMONY - Helping Achieve Responsible, Motivated, Optimistic, Neighborhood Youth. In building our community, we ask that all parents review our OK Conflict Wheel in our Parent Handbook before Summer Institute begins.
Our Summer Institute is available for students in 1st - 12th grade and offers them the opportunity to participate in a variety of different art classes taught by quality teaching artists. What also sets us apart is our amazing Youth Leadership program. Our Youth Leaders are older students, many of which have been with us for several years, and who provide mentorship to younger students during the summer camp day.
Each of our campers will receive two free Summer Camp T-Shirts which they are required to wear. Additional T-shirts are available for purchase. Also, lunch for all campers must be provided by parents/guardians. Students are not able to microwave nor refrigerate their lunch, so please plan accordingly.
Please be aware, that there is a mandatory parent orientation for all in-person campers. Students in grade 4 and above should attend with their parents for class selection. The length of time you will spend at Orientation will depend on the number of children you are registering and the grades of each child. The dates for Orientation will be listed once confirmed.
Grades 1st - 3rd
We reserve Scott Hall specifically for our younger students entering into 1st - 3rd grade in the fall, and so sign-in and pick-up will happen there as well, but they will take classes in Scott Hall, the church building, and the Manse. Students in this younger age group are assigned to a team and will participate in a variety of art classes with the support and guidance of Youth Leaders. The class schedules are set by staff to give each child the opportunity to explore the many different art forms we have available.
Students should be dropped off at 8 am and picked up at 12:30 pm. If you would prefer, we have Aftercare available until 3:00pm or 5:00 pm for an additional cost. Aftercare is supervised and organized playtime, arts, and outdoor play.
There will be a Sharing Showcase on Thursday, August 1st at 5:00 pm - the last Thursday of camp.
Grades 4th to 12th
Our students entering into grades 4th-12th in the fall will take classes in both the church building as well as the Manse and Scott Hall; however, students at this level are expected to sign in at the front doors of the church. From there, they will be taken to classes with their Youth Leaders and participate in a variety of art classes. Students can select 4 out of 8 classes during registration and we will confirm their selected 4 during class selection at Parent/Student Orientation. This provides an opportunity to learn something new. We ask parents to encourage their children in being open to new classes as well as ones they have already taken.
After lunch students may select ONE option for the rest of the camp day:
Production/6-weeks – Students in the production program attend camp from July 1st to August 9th. During the production time, they participate in a main production in one of the production teams: Play Production, Musical Theatre, Set Design, Dance, Band, and Music Production. The Performance will be on the last Thursday, August 8th, and Friday, August 9th at Kean University.
Students can be picked up at 3 pm at the front doors of the church. If you would prefer, we do have Aftercare available until 5:00 pm for an additional cost. Aftercare is supervised and organized playtime, arts, and outdoor play, and students can be picked up from Fellowship Hall.

El Instituto de Música para Niños es más que un lugar para que su hijo vaya durante el verano, es un lugar para que su hijo crezca! Estamos emocionados de estar de regreso para otro verano de HARMONY - Helping Achieve Responsuble, Motivated, Optimistic, Neighborhood Youth. Al construir nuestra comunidad, les pedimos a todos los padres que revisen nuestra Rueda de Conflicto OK en nuestro Manual para Padres antes de que commence el Instituto de Verano.
Nuestro Instituto de Verano está disponible para estudiantes de 1 a 12 grado y les ofrece la oportunidad de participar en una variedad de diferentes classes de arte impartidas por artistas docentes de calidad. Lo que también nos distingue es nuestro increíble programa de Youth Leaders. Nuertros líderes juveniles son estudiantes mayores, muchos de los cuales an estado con nosotros durante varios años y brindan tutoria a los estudiantes más jóvenes durante el día del campamento de verano.

Cada campista recibe dos camisetas gratuitas del campamento de verano que deben usar. Camisetas adicionales están disponibles para su compra. El almuerzo debe ser proporcionado por los padres/tutores. No tenemos acceso a un microondas y refrigeración.
Los estudiantes pueden ser recogidos a las 12:30pm. Si prefiere tenemos cuido en la tarde hasta las 3pm o 5pm. El cuidado en la tarde consiste en tiempo de juego, artes y juegos al aire libre supervisados y organizados.
Habra presentaciones el jueves 1 de agosto a las 5pm, el ultimo jueves del campamento.
Grados 4 a 12
Los estudiantes de los grados 4to a 12mo se registran en las puertas principales de la iglesia. Los llevan a clases con sus líderes juveniles y participan en una variedad de clases de arte. Los estudiantes pueden seleccionar sus 4 mejores clases y obtendrán al menos 2 de las 4 seleccionadas. Esto brinda una oportunidad para que los estudiantes experimenten algo que disfrutan, pero también una oportunidad para aprender algo nuevo. Pedimos a los padres que formenten esto.

Los estudiantes pueden ser recogidos a las 3:00 p. m. en las puertas principales de la iglesia o a las 5:00 p. m. para Aftercare en Fellowship Hall.
